A new Ebola outbreak happens in Congo. Ebola is a very dangerous illness. Experts found a rare type of virus. They call it the Bundibugyo variant. So far 80 people died from the illness. There are almost 250 suspected cases. The situation is bad in the north-east. There is the province Ituri.
There is no vaccine for this virus yet. There is also no medicine to cure it. The illness is very contagious. People get sick through body fluids. This happens through blood or saliva. Sick people have high fever and pain. Sometimes they have bleeding inside the body. Many people die from the infection.
Experts worry a lot. The illness could spread very fast. Many people live in the region Ituri. Many people travel across the borders to Uganda or South Sudan. The authorities check the borders very strictly now. Emergency teams and aid groups like Doctors Without Borders help there. They want to stop the spread.
