The volcano Anak Krakatau erupts. It lies in Indonesia between the islands of Java and Sumatra. Since Friday the volcano spits ash and lava. The ash cloud is up to 15000 meters high. The wind carries the ash to the capital Jakarta.
Many airports must close because of the ash. At the big airport Soekarno-Hatta hundreds of flights fall out. More than 22000 people cannot fly. The traffic ministry stops the work for safety reasons. Volcano ash is dangerous for the engines of airplanes.
The authorities call the people to be careful. Outside the people shall wear masks. The ash hurts the eyes and the lungs. Some schools cancel the classes now. Experts try to clean the air with artificial rain.
Indonesia lies on the Pazifischen Feuer-Ring. There are often earth quakes and volcanoes. The Anak Krakatau is a very active volcano. In the year 2018 there is a bad tsunami. More than 400 people die then. Currently there is no danger for a flood wave.
