The German lugers proved their dominance at the European Championships in Oberhof, which were held as part of the World Cup events. Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt successfully defended their title in the men's doubles. With two commanding runs, they placed their teammates Toni Eggert and Florian Müller in second place. The Austrian duo Juri Gatt and Riccardo Schöpf secured the bronze medal with a strong performance, while the world champions Hannes Orlamünder and Paul Gubitz finished in fourth place.
In the women's doubles competition, Jessica Degenhardt and Cheyenne Rosenthal celebrated an emotional victory. After the duo missed qualifying for the Olympic Games in Cortina d'Ampezzo, winning the European Championship title marked the sporting high point of their season. They prevailed against the World Cup leaders Selina Egle and Lara Kipp from Austria, who were awarded the silver medal. Dajana Eitberger and Magdalena Matschina completed the podium, taking the bronze medal.
