Investigators from the Villach District and City Police Commands managed to break up a far-reaching drug network in the Villach-Land district after months of investigation. The group, consisting of four young men aged between 18 and 28, is suspected of having smuggled illegal narcotics on a large scale from Slovenia into Austria since September 2024.
According to police findings, a 20-year-old main suspect regularly ordered quantities between six and nine kilograms of cannabis herb, as well as unspecified amounts of cocaine and heroin, from Slovenian contacts. The delivery was allegedly made via unknown ="0" data-tooltip-term="Courier driver" data-tooltip-explanation="People who transport illegal goods, such as drugs, across borders or to buyers on behalf of criminal networks.">courier drivers. The narcotics were then supposedly stored temporarily in an apartment in the Villach-Land district and sold at a profit to about 70 already identified buyers. In total, the amounts allegedly sold amount to up to 79 kilograms of cannabis, over two kilograms of cocaine, and more than half a kilogram of heroin.
The raid took place in November 2025 by officers from the EKO-Cobra task force at the suspects' home addresses. In addition to drugs, cash reserves and tools for drug dealing were seized. Furthermore, police succeeded in identifying a 19-year-old courier driver who is said to have carried out deliveries within Carinthia. The investigations by the Klagenfurt Public Prosecutor's Office are ongoing.
