Apple has officially introduced the 'MacBook Neo', a new laptop model priced below the current 'Air' series. The device was mainly developed for the education sector and budget-conscious beginners. The design of the 'MacBook Neo' features a robust casing and a range of vibrant colors, which clearly sets it apart visually from the professional models. It has a 12-inch display and is powered by an optimized chip from the 'M-series', ensuring high energy efficiency.
While the device is already launching in the USA starting at a price of 599 US dollars, the recommended retail price for the European market is 699 Euros. Experts see this move as a direct attack on the dominance of 'Chromebooks' in schools and universities. Critics, however, note that the hardware specification makes compromises compared to the competition in the same price segment. For example, alternative devices often already offer 'OLED-Displays' or larger memory capacity of 16 GB 'RAM', while the 'MacBook Neo' is equipped with 8 GB 'RAM' in the base configuration. Nevertheless, it is expected that the deep integration into the Apple 'Ökosystem' and the advertised battery life of up to 15 hours will be strong selling points.
