Anna-Lena Forster won gold. This happened on the first day of the Winter Paralympic Games. She was the fastest in the downhill ski race. Her lead was very small. It was only 5 hundredths of a second. That is less than a blink of an eye.
This is a big success for the 30 year old athlete. It is her first downhill win at the Winter Games. She has now won 5 gold medals in total. She competes in the class for sitting skiers. These are athletes who ski while sitting down.
"{Austria}" was also very successful. The siblings Veronika and Johannes Aigner took gold. Both started in the class for people with vision loss. Veronika Aigner won with her guide Lilly Sammer. Johannes Aigner won in the men's event.
The Winter Games take place in Italy. The locations are "Mailand" and "Cortina d'Ampezzo". Athletes from all over the world take part. They have different physical disabilities. The Games last until March 15.
