Brandenburg has a new government now. The parties SPD and CDU work together. They form a coalition. A coalition is an alliance of parties.
Members of the SPD agreed to this. Members of the CDU also said yes. This happened on March 14, 2026. Now the way is clear for the new work.
Dietmar Woidke stays the head of the government. His title is Minister President. He belongs to the SPD. Jan Redmann from the CDU will be his deputy.
There are big changes in the offices. Martina Klement becomes the new Minister for Economy. She comes from Berlin. Gordon Hoffmann becomes the new Minister for Education.
The new government must save much money. The state Brandenburg has less money. Still the government wants more teachers. This is an important goal for the schools.
Before, the SPD and the CDU often argued. Now both parties want better team work. They want to govern Brandenburg in a stable way. The alliance has a small majority in the state parliament.
