On Monday and Tuesday, there were several serious accidents in various regions, both in road traffic and in recreational activities. In Erlangen, there was a collision between a police car and the passenger car of a 24-year-old woman. The emergency vehicle was heading downtown with 'Sonder- und Wegerechten' (special and priority rights) when the crash happened at the intersection. Two officers and the young woman suffered injuries.
In Steiermark (Styria), two teenagers were injured in traffic accidents. In Gleisdorf, a 16-year-old moped driver collided head-on with an oncoming car. The teenager was thrown over a guardrail into the area of railway tracks and had to be taken to a clinic in Graz with injuries of an undetermined degree. In St. Margarethen an der Raab, a 13-year-old e-bike rider collided with the car of a 39-year-old woman. While the boy was slightly injured, the officers detected signs of suspected 'Alkoholisierung' (alcohol intoxication) in the car driver, which resulted in a report being filed.
A rescue operation was also required following an aircraft accident in the municipality of Hohe Wand. A 51-year-old paraglider crashed onto a meadow upon landing without braking, as, according to police findings, he allegedly failed to execute the necessary parachute braking maneuver. The man was flown by the emergency doctor helicopter Christophorus 3 to the University Hospital Wiener Neustadt.
