There was an important election at VW in Wolfsburg. The workers voted for the Works Council. A Works Council stands for the rights of the workers. The winner is named Daniela Cavallo. She belongs to the union IG Metall. The IG Metall got the most votes. Almost 75 percent of voters voted for her. This is a win for the IG Metall.
The IG Metall had more votes before. This time other groups had more success. Frank Patta got many votes. He was also in the IG Metall before. Now he has his own group. His group is called "Die Andere Liste". Many workers worry about their jobs. The situation at VW is hard.
There are also problems in all of Germany. More and more companies go bankrupt. This is also called Insolvency. In the year 2025, one company filed for Insolvency every 20 minutes. That is more than 24,000 companies in one year. There were not so many bankruptcies for 10 years. Firms in construction or the food service industry are often affected.
