Gas stations give 4 cents less for diesel. For super petrol, it is 12 cents. The researchers compare prices with France and Austria. There is no such fuel discount there.
Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder likes the fuel discount. He wants to make fueling affordable for everyone. Maybe the fuel discount lasts even longer. But the minister rejects a speed limit.
Experts from the Ifo-Institut are critical. They think the fuel discount is wrong. Rich people benefit more from the help. Also, people save less fuel this way.
The Bundes-Kartell-Amt checks the prices now. This takes some time. Oil companies must show their costs. There is no rule to pass on the fuel discount.
