Train travel in Europe should be easier. The EU Commission has new plans for this. Buying tickets is often hard today. This is true for travel between countries. Travelers often buy many different tickets.
The new plan is called 'Single-Ticketing'. That means: One trip, one ticket. Travelers see all routes on one website. Large websites must show tickets from other companies. Customers can compare prices better. The EU hopes for lower prices.
A big point is the 'Fahr-Gast-Rechte'. This means passenger rights. You often miss your connection if a train is late. With the new ticket, travelers have more rights. You can take a different train for free. Or you get your money back.
The train company must help if you wait long. The company pays for food and drinks. The company pays for a hotel room if needed. These rules should apply to all of Europe. In the past, companies decided this on their own.
The goal is clear. More people should ride the train. This protects the environment. The EU countries and the EU Parliament must say yes. The rules could be active very soon. All websites must show all trains within 12 months.
