The interior ministry wants to motivate Syrian refugees. They should return home on their own. There is a special action for this. It lasts from July until September.
Minister Gerhard Karner explains the plans. A return on one's own saves much money. There are 2 groups for the money bonus. The first group is in the asylum process.
They get 3.000 Euro for the trip home. The second group are recognized refugees. They now get 1.500 Euro. Before they only got 1.000 Euro.
There was a power change in Syria 18 months ago. Since then 3.000 Syrians left Austria. Karner wants less burden for Austria. Returners can help to build up Syria again.
The ministry sends letters to the people. Info sheets are also planned. Experts check many old asylum processes now. For 4.400 people the protection status is now lower.
There were also many forced returns. In the first half-year there were 7.000 people. 400 cases were difficult. The police use special forces for this.
