You still need a phone number. The number is for the log in. You need the exact name to find a contact. There is no list of all names. That stops bad messages.
Rules for the name
A name has 3 to 35 signs. You can change your name at any time. Famous people get protection. No one steals their name. Companies can use their names from Facebook.
There is also a key for safety. Only people with the key can write. The reservation of names starts at the end of June 2026. The feature comes step by step for everyone. Other apps like Signal have this already.
