The EU has a new rule. Do you order parcels from outside the EU? You pay 3 Euro tax now. This is for small parcels up to 150 Euro. This rule hits almost all deliveries. It counts for China, the USA or England.
Many small parcels arrive every day. In 2024, 12 million parcels arrive daily. Most parcels come from China. Big firms like Temu or Shein sell cheap goods. The EU wants to protect shops in Europe.
Austria has a new plan. Big online shops cost 2 Euro more. This starts in October. The state uses this money for other things. Food is cheaper then. This includes milk, eggs, vegetables and bread.
France had a tax too. But France stops the tax now. Traders from China found a way around it. They sent parcels through other countries. The tax brought no money. Now only the EU tax is valid.
