In Austria, the ground water level is very low. This affects 90 percent of all check points. The environment office says: The situation is tense. Still, everyone has enough drinking water.
Austria has much water. The water comes from wells and springs. Big water suppliers have many tanks. Small towns often have few wells. There, water can be rare during heat.
In summer, people use more water. They water the garden or fill pools. If many people use much water at once, shortages happen. The towns can then order to save water.
Minister Norbert Totschnig says: We invest much in pipes. A safety plan helps with problems. Thus, the supply of drinking water stays safe. But climate change makes the planning hard.
