At least 50 soldiers died in the attack. The attackers also captured 24 soldiers. The army speaks of executions. This means: People were killed on purpose.
The attackers were Jihadists and Tuareg fighters. Jihadists are religious fighters who use violence. Tuareg fighters want their own country. They worked together for this attack.
The attack happened near the city Anefis. The convoy wanted to drive to the city Gao. There were problems with the planning. Russian helpers were not with the army at this time.
