There is more violence against children in Germany. The Federal Criminal Police Office has new numbers. In 2025 there were 17.126 cases of sexual abuse. This is 5 percent more than last year. Most victims are girls between 6 and 13 years old.
Many crimes happen on the internet. Experts call this Cybergrooming. Perpetrators look for children on the internet. They want to persuade children to do sexual things. Artificial intelligence also worries the police. Perpetrators make fake naked pictures of real children.
Often perpetrators and victims know each other. More than half of the suspects for youth pornography are minors themselves. In Switzerland there is a big case against a former politician. Patrick Frei is said to have drugged and abused women and a girl. He filmed his crimes himself.
