Austria has new rules for traffic fines. The government made a new list of fines. From January 1st, traffic errors cost the same everywhere. Before, the costs were different in each state. Now the same prices apply in every place.
Many fines become more expensive. The costs rise by 50 percent on average. Incorrect parking now costs 60 Euro. A stop sign violation costs 70 Euro. Fast driving costs up to 120 Euro. Using a Rettungsgasse costs 200 Euro.
The car club OAMTC likes the uniform rules. But they criticize the high prices. The fines rise faster than other prices. The government expects more money from these changes. They expect about 80 million Euro more. The OAMTC demands equal rules for fines on the spot.
