Austria is very dry. It does not rain enough since January. Therefore, grass and grain do not grow well. This is a big problem for the farmers.
The farmers lack food for their cows now. Many farmers worry about the winter. They cannot feed all animals. Therefore, they bring many cows to the slaughterhouse. Right now, 3 times more cows die than usually.
The slaughterhouses have much work. Because much meat is for sale, prices fall. Farmers get less money for their animals. Minister Norbert Totschnig wants to help farmers now. He plans a package of aid.
