AFP checks numbers from 8 countries. Germany and Austria are part of this. 33000 people die from heat in these countries. About 14000 people die in Germany alone because of the heat.
The Robert-Koch-Institut names these numbers for Germany. Experts check the data further. The final number can still change. Data from parts of East Europe is still missing.
