Gerhard Zeiler wants to be the new boss of the SPÖ. He is a famous manager for media. He wants to replace Andreas Babler at the top. Zeiler says: He is a classic social democrat. He wants to make the economy in Austria strong. The economy shall have fewer rules. This is bureaucracy. So he wants to pay for the social state.
Zeiler does not want to leave the current government. He wants to continue the work with the ÖVP and the NEOS. This is a coalition. He also wants to be the vice chancellor himself. Klaus Seltenheim is a leader of the SPÖ. He criticizes Zeiler for his plans. Seltenheim says: Zeiler has no real plan.
In the SPÖ are different opinions. Some old politicians like Zeiler. Franz Voves and Peter Ambrozy belong to them. Other important persons support Andreas Babler. Eva-Maria Holzleitner and Michaela Schmidt belong to them. They do not want fights in public. The SPÖ has bad numbers in polls right now.
