The board of Volkswagen agrees to a save plan. The group wants more success again. In the next years many jobs fall away. It is about 50000 to 60000 jobs worldwide. That is every tenth job at VW.
Also at Audi and Porsche jobs fall away. The group wants to build fewer models. The brand Seat shall vanish until the year 2029. VW builds too many cars right now. Per year it is 500000 cars too much.
Four factories in Germany are perhaps in danger. This affects the places Emden, Zwickau, Hannover, and Neckarsulm. Until the year 2027 these factories must work cheaper. Otherwise VW checks other options for these locations. Experts call the plan a ceasefire.
