Francis Halzen gets the physics prize. He was born in Belgium in 1944. Now he works in the USA. He works with a big research station at the South Pole.
He looks for neutrinos there. These are very small things from space. They have no color and no charge. Billions of them fly through our bodies. We do not feel them.
Halzen had a good idea. He uses the ice at the South Pole. Over 5000 sensors sit in the ice. A sensor finds a flash of light. Now we know more about space.
The prize brings 1 million Euro. Francis Halzen gets the prize alone. People give the prize on 10 December.
