Today is a vote in Israel. Many people can vote. They choose 120 people for the parliament. The parliament is the Knesset. It is the 26th Knesset in the land.
The vote is the first vote after the attack by Hamas. The attack is on 7 October 2023. After that, a war begins in the Gaza-Streifen. People argue about the war and about the politics.
Benjamin Netanjahu is the leader now. He wants to rule again. His partner groups have very strict rules. His enemy is Gadi Eisenkot. He leads the party Jaschar. Eisenkot leads the army before.
The result is very close. No side has more than half of the votes. A party needs 61 seats for a win. Maybe a small government rules later.
The vote day starts with sadness. In Tel Aviv people think about victims from 7 October. Families of hostages ask the voters for help. They want a change in politics.
The vote rooms close at 21 hours. First news comes after that. The real result comes in few days. Then the pr sident chooses the new government leader. His name is Izchak Herzog.
