Ireland leads the Council of the EU. The country makes a new plan. It is about money for the EU. This plan has the name Nego-Box. The money shall last from the year 2028 to the year 2034.
Ireland wants to spend 141 billion euro less. The EU-Kommission wanted more money before. Now the budget shall be about 1,8 Billionen euro. The Parliament of the EU wanted even more money.
Some areas get less money. This affects research for example. Also the administration shall save money. The money for agriculture stays the same. The money for the program Erasmus+ stays the same too.
Austria likes the saving plan. But Austria wants to save more money. Minister Claudia Bauer says: The money is not enough yet. Austria pays much money to the EU. The countries must agree until the end of the year 2026.
