Poland has a new tax. The name is Über-Gewinn-Steuer. Big oil firms must pay this tax. The firms make very high money now.
President Karol Nawrocki signs the law. He wants to lower prices for fuel. The money from the tax goes into a help pack.
Gas and diesel are expensive in Poland. One litre costs over 2 Euro. The finance minister waits for lower prices. The prices shall fall by 23 cents per litre.
First the president does not want the law. He makes a veto. But the people in Poland make pressure. Now the court checks the law again.
Also in Germany is a fight about this tax. The SPD wants to bring the tax. The CDU is against the tax. Until now is no deal for all of Europe.
