The German army builds a new unit. It is a drone regiment. Defense minister Boris Pistorius says this on Thursday. He is at a test place in Bergen. The army learns from the war in Ukraine. Drones are very important there.
The new regiment has 600 men and women. The drones fly up to 500 kilometers far. There are different types of drones. Some drones watch the enemy. Other drones attack targets. The unit also learns how to stop enemy drones.
The new unit starts in the year 2027. One part of the unit cares for tech. They break the radio of foes. This is electro-magnetic fight. The soldiers test new gear in the field. So the army finds good help to guard Germany fast.
