The German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt has reacted to the ongoing sporting crisis and dismissed coach Dino Toppmöller immediately. The decision was made after an intensive crisis meeting of the supervisory board over the weekend. According to the club, the main reason was the team's lack of development and the risk of missing the season goals in European competition.
Sporting Director Markus Krösche, who hired Toppmöller two and a half years ago, felt forced to provide the necessary impulse. The team had previously shown another weak performance in the away game in Bremen and only managed a lucky draw. Krösche criticized the recurring error patterns and the lack of structure in the Hessians' game, which could not find consistency despite personnel reinforcements.
At the same time, there is news from a former successful Frankfurt coach: Oliver Glasner will leave his post at English top-flight club Crystal Palace at the end of the current 2025/26 season. Glasner, who won the FA Cup with the Londoners last year, already informed the club early about his desire for a new challenge. Despite the current sporting challenges in the Premier League, Glasner emphasized his goal to finish the season successfully.
In Frankfurt, Dennis Schmitt temporarily takes over the training leadership while the club searches for a permanent solution to stabilize the second half of the season.
