In the 41st round of the win2day ICE Hockey League, EC-KAC secured their ticket for the Play-off early with a win in Linz. The team from Klagenfurt turned around a deficit in a high-scoring game and prevailed against the Steinbach Black Wings Linz. With this result, KAC underlined its ambitions for the championship title and remains the clear leader of the league.
At the same time, the duel for third place in the standings took place in Salzburg. EC Red Bull Salzburg hosted HCB Südtirol Alperia. In a game that was initially balanced, with the guests from South Tyrol leading at times, the Salzburg team managed the turnaround in the second period. Thanks to efficient Powerplay situations and a strong team performance, the Red Bulls won the game 7:4 and extended their lead over the pursuers.
Another game in the round was played by HC Pustertal against FTC-Telekom Budapest. Pustertal dominated the match in their home arena, the Intercable Arena, and won clearly with 5:1. With this success, HCP consolidated its place in the top six of the table, bringing direct qualification for the quarterfinals within reach. The Hungarian guests played defensively but could offer little resistance to the aggression of the 'Wolves'.
