In Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, intensive work is underway to repair essential infrastructure following the recent heavy Russian air attacks. According to official reports, the heat supply in many residential buildings has already been restored. However, the situation remains critical because large parts of the power grid were severely damaged.
The attacks specifically targeted facilities for power generation and distribution. This led to widespread outages and restrictions. To prevent the grid from collapsing and to ensure basic supply for the population, emergency shutdowns were carried out. The national government also reacted by ordering increased energy imports from neighboring European countries.
In addition to the technical challenges in repairing the facilities, the winter weather presents an extra burden for residents. Aid organizations and city authorities are striving to maintain supply security. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian leadership is asking internationally for more support to secure the airspace and rebuild the energy sector.
