US President Donald Trump has taken another step to implement his peace plan for the Gaza Strip. On Saturday, it became known that he had invited Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo m{g}an and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to join as founding members of the so-called 'Board of Peace'. While the Turkish Presidential Office confirmed receiving the invitation, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated that the proposal is currently being reviewed.
The council, chaired by Trump himself, is intended to take over the strategic oversight of the transitional administration in the Gaza Strip. Its tasks include coordinating international reconstruction measures, ensuring transparency in financial flows, and regional diplomacy. The executive board already includes high-ranking figures such as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Parallel to the establishment of this council, the deployment of an International Stabilization Force (ISF) was announced, which is to be led by US General Jasper Jeffers. These measures follow the appointment of a technocratic Palestinian committee that is meant to handle the daily government business in the area, which has been severely damaged by the conflict. The ceasefire, in place since October, is considered fragile as both conflict parties accuse each other of violations.
