The EU and South American states work closer together. They made a big deal. It is called Mercosur. This deal starts on May 1 for now. This is called a temporary start.
The deal makes trade simpler. Companies pay fewer taxes on goods. This is true for cars from Europe. It is also true for meat from South America.
Politicians talked for many years. There was much fighting about the deal. Some people fear for nature. Others worry about farmers in Europe.
The EU Commission confirmed the date. Only parts of the deal apply first. This is a temporary use. Later all countries must accept the deal fully.
