Austria has new plans for prisons. Anna Sporrer is the justice minister. She wants to release 500 prisoners early. This happens only 1 time. There are 3 groups of prisoners. Some prisoners can go home early. They must behave well. This rule is for specific people only.
People with a sentence of 5 years can leave. They must serve half of the time already. Serious criminals cannot leave early. This applies to killers or terrorists. The party OVP is unsure about the plan. A new law comes in autumn.
The justice staff is angry. Judges and prosecutors plan a protest week. This happens from October 12 to 16. There are no trials in this time. The staff says: We have too much work. We need more staff. They want help from the politicians.
