Austria extends its gas supply for emergencies. The supply stays until April 2029. The National-Rat decided this on Monday. The Green party and the FPÖ agree. They give the necessary votes for the law.
The gas supply size is 20 Tera-Watt-Stunden. This is a very large amount of energy. In an emergency, this gas lasts for 2 winter months. This plan costs 240 million Euro. The money is for the years 2027 and 2028.
The gas storage in Austria is half full now. This is about 55 percent. In the whole EU, the storage is half full. The supply protects homes and the industry. Also hospitals get gas safely this way.
