Austria is very dry. The ground water level falls in many places. Minister Norbert Totschnig has a new plan. He wants a new water list.
Big users must report this. This rule is for more than 200.000 cubic meter per year. Companies and farms need much water. The list collects all data.
A time plan is not ready. Totschnig says: The drinking water is safe. Please use water with care. Use rain water for the garden.
The state gives much money since 2023. The state spends 1.5 billion euro for water. People build new wells and pipes. Experts want fast help for the earth.
