There is much anger in Burgenland and Carinthia. A new report is the reason. It talks about hospitals. The report says: A good hospital needs 180 beds. It must offer many medical treatments.
Hans Peter Doskozil is the leader of Burgenland. Daniel Fellner is a politician from Carinthia. Both belong to the party SPÖ. They fear many small clinics must close.
Doskozil says: 3 of 5 clinics are in danger. He does not want the government to decide. The states should decide for their own hospitals. Then help stays close to the people.
The health minister is Korinna Schumann. She calms the people in Austria. She says: We close no hospitals. But small hospitals must become modern. They become centers for specialized doctors.
The government wants to change the health system. Doctors shall work together more closely. Fewer people must go to the hospital for small things.
Other states have solutions. Salzburg and Styria work together now. Patients from Styria can go to hospitals in Salzburg. Styria pays money to Salzburg for this.
