The government has a plan for 2027. This plan is a budget draft. Finance minister Lars Klingbeil presents the numbers. Germany wants to spend 555.4 billion euros. This is much money. Much money goes to the army. The army is the military of Germany.
Costs for the military rise by one third. This is over 109 billion euros. Mr. Klingbeil says: We must protect Germany better. He says the war in Ukraine is a reason. The situation in the Middle East is also a reason. Germany takes new debt for defense. This is what the finance minister says.
The state must take much debt for high costs. In 2027 it is 118.7 billion euros. Together with other loans it is over 200 billion euros. Experts criticize this. They fear high interest. Interest is the money one pays extra for debt. These costs could rise until 2030.
The work ministry gets most money in the budget. It is over 201 billion euros. This money is for the pension. The government wants to give less help to save money. For example for climate protection. Taxes on tobacco and alcohol rise. A tax on plastic comes too.
