Tamas Sulyok is the President of Hungary. He signed new laws on Saturday. These laws change the Constitution of Hungary. The Constitution is the most important book of laws. Sulyok loses his job because of these changes.
His work ends on Monday. Sulyok did not like the decision. He said it is a misuse of power. But he said: I cannot stop this. People think Sulyok is a friend of Viktor Orban.
Viktor Orban was the leader before. The new leader is Peter Magyar. He said Sulyok is a puppet of Orban. Magyar wants to change the state. He wants to break old power structures.
The new Verfassungs-Novelle brings many changes. Politicians can only stay 12 years in the parliament. This stops Orban from working there after 2030. Judges must stop work at 70 years of age.
Agnes Forsthoffer takes over the work for now. She is the leader of the parliament. The parliament has 30 days time. Then it must elect a new President. Magyar plans a new Constitution.
