It rains too little in Austria for months. Experts worry a lot. Rivers and ground water are very low. The situation is bad in Burgenland and Lower Austria. Upper Austria and Styria are also affected.
Farmers have big problems. There is much less grain in Burgenland. The harvest is almost half smaller. No grass grows on the mountain pastures in Styria. Food for the animals becomes rare. Some farmers must sell their animals now.
The weather was too dry in winter and spring. Heat makes water vanish quickly. Experts want changes for climate change. Fields should hold water better. Only long rain fills the water stores again.
