In Austria it rains much too little. The sun shines very strong. This causes problems in the land-work. Above all cattle-farmers have big worries. On the meadows hardly grass grows. The grass is brown and dries out. Therefore the cows lack the food for the winter.
Many farmers must sell their animals already now. This is called not-sale. The animals weigh often less than normally. Therefore the farmers get also less money. In the Styria and in Tyrol the situation is bad. On many high pastures there is no water anymore. Trucks must bring water to the animals. Many cows must earlier back into the stable.
Also with the grain and corn there are problems. The harvest turns out much smaller than normally. Experts believe that food becomes therefore more expensive. Especially with bread and potatoes the prices rise perhaps. The farmers demand help from the state. They need money to save their farms. The climate-change makes the work for the farmers always harder.
