In South Europe is great heat. The temperature is often over 40 degrees. That is dangerous for people and nature. In Italy 25 cities have a red alert. Many people must go to the hospital. Older people suffer from the high temperature. Also the glaciers in the Alps melt very fast.
In Greece large forest areas burn. West of Athens 10,000 hectares of forest are destroyed. That is a very large area. During the fire work there was an accident. Two helicopters crashed in the air. One helicopter fell down and exploded. The pilot and the co-pilot died. The fire team fights against the flames. Help comes from other countries.
In Italy many places burn too. In the north and south of the country are fires. Near Trieste the authorities plan evacuations. That means: people must leave their homes. In France and Spain the situation is better. In Spain fire fighters from Germany help. The heat stays for at least one week.
