Two football players from Iran have a new home. Their names are Fatemeh Pasandideh and Atefeh Ramezanisadeh. There was a party on Wednesday in the city of Brisbane. They got papers for the Ein-Bürgerung there. The minister Tony Burke was at the party.
The women played football in March in Australia. They did not sing the National-Hymne from Iran before a game. This was a protest against the leaders in Iran. People in Iran called them traitors. The players had great fear of punishment.
7 people from the team wanted Asyl in Australia. 5 of them went back to Iran. The pressure on their families was too big. Fatemeh Pasandideh and Atefeh Ramezanisadeh stay in Australia. They train in the club Brisbane Roar.
Fatemeh Pasandideh is 22 years old. She says: Yesterday was a very happy day. She is proud of the new citizenship. Atefeh Ramezanisadeh is 34 years old. She calls the day great. Both women hope for a career in football.
