The USA have very much debt. The sum is higher than 40 trillion dollars. This is a number with 12 zeros. There was never so much debt before. The finance ministry in Washington tells the numbers.
There are many reasons for the debt. The state spends more money than it takes in. An old population is one reason. Many people retire now. This costs much money for pensions.
Also wars and politics cost much money. President Donald Trump wanted to save money. He made a department for state work. But the debt still grows more. This happens also because of tax cuts.
The high debt can make big problems. The state pays much interest. Then money for schools is missing. Politicians fight about a good solution. Some want to spend less money.
