A fire starts in the city of Bukavu. This happens in the east of Congo. The fire destroys 2 schools. 300 houses burn down too. At least 26 children die in this disaster.
Many people get hurt. Some children choke on the smoke. Other children die in a panic. People are very scared. The schools are in a narrow area. The houses there consist of wood or metal.
The cause of the fire is still unclear. Bukavu has many fires lately. Rebels control the city. The government has no power there. The rebels are M23. They rule the city since 2025.
