12 countries want no goods from Israel settlements. Great Britain, France and Canada join this ban. They protest against new houses in the West-Jordan-Land.
These settlements break international laws. There is also much violence against Palestinians. Ed Miliband is the foreign minister of Great Britain.
He wants to stop the violence. The ban includes items like olive oil and dates. Israel is very angry about this decision.
The government closes the British consulate in East-Jerusalem. A consulate is an office of a foreign country. Some British politicians cannot travel to Israel.
Germany and Austria do not join the ban. They only want punishment for violent people. They follow existing EU rules.
