School starts soon in Austria. The ministry tells new numbers. Most schools have enough teachers. Only few places need more help.
Over 128000 teachers work in Austria. Normal schools have 288 open jobs. State schools miss 58 people. Vienna and Burgenland have full teams.
Vorarlberg has a hard time. Many teachers choose Switzerland. They earn more money there. The ministry says: School happens anyway. Other teachers do more work.
The union feels worry. Paul Kimberger talks about a hidden lack. Teachers do much extra work. This is like 7000 full jobs. Special schools need much staff.
Many new teachers change their job. They have no normal teacher study. They know another job well. Last year 12 of 100 new teachers are new in the job. The union wants teachers with study.
