Andreas Babler steps back as the boss of the SPÖ. This does not happen at once. He goes in small steps. Babler stays the head of the party for now.
Two people help him with the work now. These are Philip Kucher and Eva-Maria Holzleitner. Together they form a team of three. From the new year Kucher and Holzleitner lead the party alone.
Babler is also the Vize-Kanzler of Österreich right now. He gives up this job at the start of 2027. Markus Marterbauer shall become the new Vize-Kanzler then. Marterbauer is the current finance minister.
Markus Marterbauer was very sick. He had cancer. He must get healthy again first. Then he takes the tasks from Andreas Babler.
Max Lercher is the SPÖ boss in Steiermark. He calls the solution a difficult Kompromiss. He wanted more clarity. But a big fight is stopped.
In spring 2027 there is a big Parteitag. The members choose a new boss there. Until then the SPÖ wants to do more for the people again. It wants to fight less about itself.
