People in Israel vote for a new parliament. The parliament is the Knesset. There is no clear winner after the election on Tuesday. Benjamin Netanyahu is the current leader of the government. His party is Likud. It is the strongest party now. But he does not have enough votes for a majority. He needs 61 of 120 seats. His rival is Gadi Eisenkot. He also has no majority.
The Arab parties are very strong now. They win perhaps 19 seats. This is a record. They can now decide who rules. But Netanyahu accuses the Arab parties of election fraud. He says they steal votes. There is no proof for this yet. The Arab parties deny this. They want to replace Netanyahu as premier.
The country is deeply divided. Many people fear war. The United Nations demand a policy change from Israel. They say Israel must follow the international law. There was much violence in the West Bank recently. Now President Herzog must decide. He picks one person to form a government. If no one succeeds, there are new elections soon.
