Elias Hirschl has a big chance. He is on the Short-List for the German Book Prize. The list came out on Tuesday. His book is Schleifen. It is a Roman. The Jury likes the book a lot. They say: It is funny and smart. It is about words and numbers.
There are 6 people on the list. Hirschl is the only Austrian. He was born in 1994 in Wien. Hirschl also writes plays and music. He already won many prizes. In the year 2026 he got the literature prize in Düsseldorf. Another author from Wien did not make the list. His name is Giuliano Musio.
The German Book Prize is on October 5. The party is in Frankfurt. The winner gets 25.000 euro money. The other people on the list get 2.500 euro. Last year Dorothee Elmiger won. Soon the list for the Austrian Book Prize comes out.
