In 2025 many road accidents happened. 403 people died on the road in Austria. This is 15 percent more than before. Over 47,000 people were hurt. This is the highest level in 8 years. 129 people get hurt every day.
Many children are hurt in traffic. Over 3,500 children had an accident. 8 children died. Many children sit in cars. Cars are often dangerous for them. E-Scooters are also dangerous. An E-Scooter is a small scooter with a motor. Every 4th hurt person on a scooter is a child. Few children wear a helmet.
E-Bikes are dangerous. An E-Bike is a bike with a motor. 17 percent more E-Bike riders are hurt. 24 percent more people are hurt on E-Scooters. Most deaths happened in Lower Austria. Only in Vienna and Salzburg the numbers go down.
Alcohol is a big danger in traffic. On Father's Day there are 3 times more accidents. Many men drink much beer then. They ride a bike when they are drunk. Experts say: First drive. Then celebrate. Drink water when you celebrate. This helps against pain in the head.
